Dependencies Begin in Preconstruction
Design deliverables, equipment approvals, site access, and permits influence which construction activities can begin. A schedule that assumes these are independent can appear workable on paper but fail in the field.
The Impact of One Delay
If a major component arrives late, downstream installation, inspections, and commissioning may need to move. Reassigning crews or changing work fronts can be useful, but only if the alternatives are technically and operationally feasible.
Planning for Turnover
Testing and energization often require completed systems, documentation, inspections, and coordination with the owner and other stakeholders. Treating commissioning as a final afterthought can create avoidable schedule pressure.
These are general project considerations, not an engineering assessment of a particular facility. Project-specific decisions require appropriate technical review.
